A Slice of Life

2006 acrylic/canvas 4'7" w x 6'h

This view is taken from the portage descending around Virginia Falls in Nahanni National Park. Looking towards Virginia Falls, the spectular falls are rather dwarfed by the mountains in the background. Virginia Falls is the largest waterfall in Canada.

Pipe Dreams

2001 acrylic/canvas 4'7" w x 6'h

This view is taken from the portage descending around Virginia Falls in Nahanni National Park. Looking towards Fourth Canyon ( Painted Canyon ) you witness the exquisite beginnings of the technicolour canyon walls that dominate this section of the river. Copper, magenta and cobalt blue flood the area. Running the river by canoe, the colours fly by you like a whirling kaleidoscope. Energy extractors are proposing to build a pipeline down the MacKenzie Valley impacting thousands of miles of fragile ecosystems including Nahanni National Park.

Big Bang For Your Buck

2002 acrylic/canvas 6'w x4'7"h

This aerial view of the MacKenzie Mountains offers a glimpse into the vast majesty of the Nahanni region. In the foreground sits an "Oxbow" lake, which is quite unique and one of many in this region.

Fallout

2003 acrylic/ canvas 4'4"w x 6'h

Nahanni National Park, on the portage trail around Virginia Falls. Mist covered cliff tops oversee the canyon below. The Nahanni watershed is threatened by energy interests too numerous to count. In particular, a zinc mine at Prairie Creek has reopened and is threatening to expand operations.
